Artist Statement

Recently, through my art, I have been considering the difference between a monster and a giant, the potential that lies between.
My work has been occupying a ground between ritual and play, seemingly coming from some other place.  Are they cultural objects more than art objects? If they are cultural objects, from whom or where?  My work is not at the service of metaphor, and I can’t seem to abandon beauty in the presence of concept.
The strangeness of the work, hopefully, lingers like residue.
The body of my work fits within the tradition of New Genres, and I’ve been exhibiting in Los Angeles over the last two years in spaces responsive to that tradition.
