Project Room G3 is pleased to present a solo exhibition “Difficult Situations” by Amanda Keller Konya. Based on the book “Dealing With Difficult Situations” published by The Kodak Library of Creative Photography the installation “Difficult Situations” literally addresses both the difficult situations attached to the photographic act and ideas about the photographer’s subjectivity. The installation juxtaposes a photograph of a photographic manual, a surveillance camera used by outdoorsman to track potential prey and a mélange of cinematic scenes depicting interactions between two filmic characters: the photographer and the photographic subject. Throughout the run of the exhibition images captured by the surveillance camera will be placed in a vertical stack within the installation. The inadequate manual, photographic device and appropriated representations trap the viewer in an unfamiliar shifting field, resulting in the necessity to navigate through what it means to simultaneously be looked at while also participating in the act of looking.
