Overwhelmed by everything, Anthony Carfello and Brian Marrier have taken refuge in a gallery. Arriving separately, now barricaded inside, they’ll spend their time considering what has driven them there, and what waits outside.
What use is a gallery? Decades of cultural producers have burned its white walls to the ground with metaphorical Molotov cocktails, yet it seems to survive with the resiliency of a cockroach.
Who finds what purpose for this site? Unless its presence is best left to the control of a municipal historic preservation commission (not to be ruled out), the gallery must provide some kind of platform or forum or intangible, warm & fuzzy feeling that makes all students of the humanities giggle with vaguely sexual laughter.
With an enthusiasm for trial and error experimentation reminiscent of Enlightenment-era scientists, Carfello and Marrier will use Project Room G3 to ask and attempt.
